Located conveniently in central Essen, directly oppposite the central railway station, Haus der Technik is easily accessible by rail or by car.

By rail (Essen central railway station (Essen-Hauptbahnhof)):

By car:

From the motorway A3/A52 take the exit Essen-Zentrum/Essen-Süd

From the motorway A40, coming from the direction of Duisburg, take the exit Essen-Zentrum/Essen-Ost

From the motorway A40, coming from the direction of Dortmund, take the exit Essen-Huttrop.

Parking:

Since HDT has no car-parking facility of its own, please use the car-parks in the vicinity:
• Parkhaus am Hauptbahnhof (multi-storey car-park next to the central railway station), approx. 10 € per day.

You can have your parking ticket validated at the HDT Customer Service Centre.

By plane:

From Düsseldorf International Airport – Essen Central Railway Station (Essen Hbf) can be reached comfortably in about 25 minutes from Düsseldorf Airport Station, where about 350 trains (high-speed ICE, IC, EC and regional commuter trains) stop daily.

Düsseldorf Airport Station is located at the eastern end of the airport grounds. SkyTrain, a fully-automated cable railway brings you  directly from the terminal to  the railway building.

Alternatively, from Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal Rail Station in the main airport building (underground level) you can take the line S7 to Solingen-Ohligs and then change at Derendorf to line S1 going towards Essen. The travel time is approximately 50 minutes.
