The use of carbon dioxide is seen as a big advantage to broaden the carbon feedstock. Several start-ups but also big companies are active in the use of CO2 as a an alternative feedstock for the production of base and fine chemicals. Since organic chemistry is based on carbon as the base for molecules there is no option to decarbonize the production of chemicals. The only option to reduce the carbon footprint and to avoid the use of fossil carbon in chemistry is the use of alternative carbon sources - and with these the use of carbon dioxide from offgases or directly from the atmosphere.

Several presentations tackle this option to use CO2 in the production of the chemical industry are shown at our Conference on CO2 for Fuels and Chemicals in Cologne. Especially our session on “Power to Chemicals”  showcast new development for the production of chemicals based on this feedstock. You can meet speakers from leading companies like LanzaTech, Evonik and Econic Industries together with experts from the Fraunhofer Institute ISE and the Bergakademie Freiberg with new developments and solutions. Additionally, meet experts from VITO, CLIB - Cluster Industrielle Biotechnologie, Avecom, Acies Bio and the University of Denmark showing significant progess in biotechnological approaches for CO2 utilisation to produce chemicals and even proteins.

More than 200 leading international experts in Carbon Capture and Carbon Utilisation (Power-to-X) together with 20 exhibitors are expected to attend the hybrid event on 23–24 March 2022 (hybrid event, Cologne, Germany). Take a look into the near future and exchange ideas with the leading pioneers at one of the premier and most prominent events on CO2 as renewable carbon feedstock for fuels and chemicals in the world: The “Conference on CO2-based Fuels and Chemicals 2022”, 23–24 March 2022, Cologne, Germany. As a hybrid conference it combines a “live” in-person event with a “virtual” online component.

Innovation Award "Best CO2 Utilisation 2022”

The Innovation Award “Best CO2 Utilisation 2022” will be granted for the third time to innovative and trend-setting CO2-based products and technologies. All six nominated products and processes will be published soon.

Sponsoring Opportunities

All sponsoring opportunities are online. The nova-Institute thanks YNCORIS (DE) for supporting the innovation award “Best CO2 Utilisation 2022”, COVESTRO (DE) for Silver Sponsoring, Evonik (DE) for Bronze Sponsoring and CO2 Value Europe (BE) for co-organising the event.
