Session on Innovation, Strategy & Policy – Conference on CO2-based Fuels and Chemicals 2023

Meet the leading experts at the Conference on CO2-based Fuels and Chemicals 2023, 19–20 April 2023 in Cologne, Germany and online

Direct legislative support for other CO2-based materials or substances, such as plastics, has not been introduced so far in the EU policy framework and CO2-based chemicals are usually rejected due to the concern that these chemicals do not help to mitigate climate change, because the carbon is only bound for a short duration somewhere between a few hours to a few years. Political recommendations on CO2-based materials are often based on the idea of (permanent) carbon removal thereby failing to reflect on the bigger picture, on the essentiality of CCU for the future economy, and on consequences and alternatives of rejecting CCU.

What is the potential of CCU as a carbon removal strategy and beyond? Which policy framework and incentives are in place, internationally and on a European level to drive CCU further? What strategy is pursued by industrial players? Learn about the current status and prospective development of CCU from the forerunning experts in this field:
